District 9 Update and Amendment

This entry is an amendment to yesterday's post concerning the film District 9. I feel a little guilty because I didn't really do my homework, and I gave all of the credit for the film to producer Peter Jackson. In fact, the film is based on a short film called Alive in Joburg by director Neill Blomkamp. Blomkamp is a South African and is the director of several short films. District 9 was written and directed by him as well. I suggest you Google his name and watch some of the shorts. They are very, very well done. I am now considerably more interested in seeing District 9. He also did some Halo commercials that have made me rethink my position on video games being turned into movies. If studios made science fiction films the way this man envisions them, science fiction might get the attention it deserves.
