Black Death has potential!

And I'll just finish out the night with one more movie tidbit. I'm a sucker for pretty much anything that is historical fiction, especially if it's dark ages or medieval. So it should be no surprise that I got a little excited when I read about this movie starring Sean Bean (that's the Sean Bean of LOTR fame) over at Screen Rant.

The Expendables is the film I wanted to see 15 years ago. Can it still work?

The Expendables is an 80's action film fan's wet dream. What do you get when you put Sly Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, and Mickey Rourke in the same film?

Well, I don't know, but I bet it's pretty freakin' awesome! By the way, Jean Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal turned down roles in this film. Message to JCVD and Steve: Take the crack pipe at your mouths and get yourselves together! You both just blew your best chance at a come back. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Anyway, both of these guys have projects in the works and a cameo in a film this size couldn't have hurt them. Van Damme is slated to star in another Universal Soldier film alongside Dolph Lundgren that is due out in February of 2010 , and Seagal has a new TV series on A&E called Steven Seagal: Lawman that premiered this week.

Whatever.

It would have been cool if they could have gotten Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Charles Bronson, and Chuck Norris but that's probably a bit unrealistic. (Come to think of it, maybe I should put down the crack pipe.)

Anyway, if you lived through the multitude of kick assery that was 80's action films, keep your eye out for this one.

R.E. Howard's Solomon Kane makes it to the big screen!

I don't know a lot about Solomon Kane except that he was created by the guy who gave us Conan. But I do think this trailer looks pretty bad ass.

Well, as you may or may not know, I dig me some independent films from time to time. I heard about this one over at Screen Rant (which has quickly become my favorite movie news site), and a few seconds later I was on my Netflix account and adding it into the queue. Check out the trailer below.
